Northwich went down for the second week in sucsession to pacesetters Ashton on Mersey to put the promotion chase out of their own hands for the first time in 4 weeks,
After winning the toss and batting first Northwich were tied down by some tight ashton bowling but made steady progress as they reached 51-1 at drinks on 15 overs with only the casualty of ben elliot as he leading edged to cover for just 3 runs, martyn east (24) and paul alcock(19) then put on 44 for the 2nd wicket but after alcock was bowled 2nd ball after drinks just failing to oclamp his bat down on a yorker it started a collapse that caused Northwich to lose 9 wickets for 24 runs after a firey spell of bowling from the ashton opener who tore the middle order apart, O;sullivan was bowled by a yorker, shortly followed by Jamieson who fell to a good catch from the keeper and when Yearsley followed next ball being bowled off his pads the writing was on the wall, east also edged to the keeper shortly followed by Dave Pricew who was caught from a deflection from the bowler straight to mid off, John Price followed soon after after running himself out attempting an ambitious 2nd soon to be followed by hayes who hit a 6 over the mid wicket boundary only to be caught and bowled two overs later, Douglas was the last wicket to fall in a last gasp attempt to boost the scoring as northwich were bowled out for 75.

a good start by kimber and hayes had ashton reeling at 2-13 off 4 overs but the AOM overseas came in and after surviving two very adjacent LBW appeals he smashed 46 not out with a wicket to john price and a runout to give Northwich only 2 points in a weekend to forget, Northwich host davenham next week needing 4 wins out of their last 4 games to be in with even the slightest chance of promotion.
luck isn't chance, luck is earned by dedication, determination and sheer hard work!!!
