T20 Davenham 1s vs Northwich 1s

Postby easty on Fri Jul 03, 2009 1:45 pm

Northwich scraped past their local rivals davenham in the second round of the T20 cup to advance into the quater finals of the competition.

After winning a toss (finally) skipper john o'sullivan chose to bat first which looked to be the wrong decision after a shocking performance from tho northwich top order left them at 20-6 after only 7 overs with o'sullivan watching helplessley from the other end! he then found a partner in Lee Evans and they took the score to 86 before evans was out caught at point for 33. O'sullivan followed shortly after for a well made 38 and some late hitting from alcock and douglas got the score to 104ao off 19.2ov.

in reply davenham started like a house on fire when they were 25-0 off 3 overs with brandon proving expansive! jamieson was then brought into the attack and he and kimber bowled tightly to restrict davenham to 41-0off 10 but with 10 wickets in the shed the home tea were favourites!! the opening partnership was broken by a runout and then the introduction of alcock bowling his tweakers got rid of the dangerous Greaves! jamieson finished a fine spell of tight bowling and was replaced by east who got a wicket in each of his first two overs and with alcock also taking 2 wickets the score was pegged back even more! with the light fading douglas was introduced into the attack with the home team needing 26 off 3 overs, but tight overs from douglas and east ensured davenham didnt reach their target!
luck isn't chance, luck is earned by dedication, determination and sheer hard work!!!
